I strongly support Malena Stevens for Summit County clerk.

I first met Malena when she ran for the Summit County Council. Since then, I’ve worked with her on issues affecting families and young children and watched her serve our county in numerous capacities. What consistently impresses me is her willingness to listen, dig into complex issues, and do the necessary work to understand them deeply.

Malena is profoundly engaged in our community. Long after her work for families on the County Council, she continues to serve on Summit County’s Early Childhood Alliance. While on the council, she also supported increased countywide funding for senior services, recognizing that needs exist at every stage of life. She understands our residents because she has spent years working alongside them, an experience that is crucial for our next clerk.

Importantly, Malena knows elections must be secure, accurate and accessible. She is committed to protecting vote-by-mail so every eligible Summit County voter can participate.

For a parent juggling work and young children, getting the family to a polling place is a significant barrier. For a senior with mobility challenges, someone working irregular hours, or a resident in our rural communities, in-person voting can be even harder. Vote-by-mail provides essential flexibility.

Utah’s system already incorporates robust security measures, including signature verification and rigorous audits, while ensuring broad participation. As voting laws evolve, we need a clerk who will protect election integrity without unnecessarily shutting voters out of the process.

I’ve seen how Malena approaches public service. I trust her judgment, her work ethic, and her dedication to this community. Please join me in voting for Malena Stevens for Summit County clerk.
