As I read The Park Record article in The Salt Lake Tribune on Monday morning about the desecration of the Har Shalom Temple in Park City, I was outraged that some small minded, bigoted, racist coward had done this. People join a religion for a multitude of reasons and should feel safe to gather and practice those beliefs without persecution.

Religion, regardless of faith, provides a community to those who choose to join. Whether Catholic, Methodist, Protestant, Hindu, Muslim, Mormon, Jewish or any other religious group, it doesn’t matter. Everyone needs to be loved and respected.

As someone who doesn’t believe in organized religion, I do believe all religions boil down to loving one another. It’s that simple. Love and respect one another.

I hope everyone in our community feels the same outrage of this hateful action as I do. Reach out, speak out and support everyone. Let this individual know that we as a community don’t support such atrocious behavior.
