The Park City Police Department in late August received a report of a confrontation between a driver and a pedestrian on Main Street that included a punch thrown at the vehicle.

The report was filed a bit after 7 p.m. on Aug. 28 in the area of the Main Street post office. Public police logs indicated a person “punched” the other party’s car “because they were going” 20 mph.

The Police Department later said the person “was on foot and yelled at the complainant for driving 20 mph on Main Street.” Officers who responded did not find the pedestrian.

The police said it is “unknown why they felt the complainant’s speed was inappropriate.”

Police logs categorized the case as a citizen dispute rather than a suspected criminal matter. The vehicle did not suffer damage, the police said.
