Park City police officers responded to noise cases as the final weeks of the summer-tourism season arrived.
The Park City Police Department has received numerous complaints about loudness in recent weeks. Logs from the middle of August highlight the ongoing issue.
The cases did not appear to be serious, but they illustrate the sorts of complaints that can arise when Park City is crowded. Noise complaints are oftentimes classified as suspected disturbing the peace.
Some of the recent cases included:
- On Sunday, Aug. 23, at 11:03 p.m., two women were reported to be on an Empire Avenue balcony “being very loud.” The person who contacted the police indicated they were unsure which apartment the people were in, “but the officer should be able to hear them,” according to public police logs.
- On Friday, Aug. 21, at 11:43 p.m., a group of people was seen close to basketball courts on Kearns Boulevard. They were “drinking and being loud and bouncing the ball,” the police were told.
- On Thursday, Aug. 20, at 7:29 p.m., loud music was reported at Rotary Park in Thaynes Canyon.
- On Aug. 20 at 2:35 a.m., the Police Department received information about up to 12 people near the City Park entrance along Sullivan Road. The people were “drinking and being extremely loud,” the police were told.
- On Monday, Aug. 17, at 10:18 p.m., a party, described as loud, was reported on Telemark Drive.
