As I see occasional reminders that applications for Leadership Class 33 are open, I recall my process in applying for Class 28 (best class ever) and think about others who might be in the same boat.
I had no real connection to the community or any of the businesses and non profits that supported Park City. I have worked from home for a company in the financial sector for a long time and wanted to support Park City without knowing how to. I took the leap and applied.
What came out of that for me has been amazing. I learned how our town works with good and not as good. I made amazing friends that I otherwise would have likely never encountered. I have expanded my personal horizons far beyond what I could have ever imagined. And most importantly, I feel connected to a community and the people who serve it more than I would have ever envisioned.
I would encourage anyone who is in the least bit interested in Leadership to attend the open house Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Park City Library to see if it is right for you. If you can’t make it, reach out to anyone who has gone through the first 32 and ask them questions. I am hopeful that it can lead you places you never thought imaginable.
