Dr. Edward D. Fiscus, age 82, of Park City, UT, formerly of Bowling Green, OH, passed away at Park City Intermountain Hospital Hospice Care on June 5,2026, after a valiant battle against a rare form of cancer. He was held in the arms of his wife, Julie, son, Dave, and daughter, Sue as he passed. Ed was born in Massillon, OH to the late Irvin l. and Viola M. Fiscus on October 17, 1943. He graduated from Massillon Washington High School in 1961 and in !965 he received his B.A from Mount Union College (University of) where he played lacrosse, sang in the choir, and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. In 1966, Ed received his M.Ed. from the University of Pittsburgh and in 1975, he received his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University.
Ed began his teaching career in Monroeville, PA and continued teaching at Canton City Schools, Canton, OH. In 1969, he served as a school psychologist in the Frankin County Schools (Columbus) and later as Chief Psychologist. Ed began his university career at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) in 1976. He was a leader in many professional groups and was appointed to the State Board of Psychology by the Governor of Ohio for two fouryear terms, serving twice as president. Ed retired from BGSU in 2002 as Associate Professor Emeritus. Ed continued teaching, was a psychologist for Lucas County schools, and was an educational consultant, helping develop the graduate school psychology program at Youngstown State University. In the Bowling Green community, he served as President of the Bowling Green Swim Club and the Bowling Green High School Band Boosters. He also served as a CASA, court appointed special advocate, volunteer.
Ed’s family was his top priority. Ed is survived by his wife, Julie, who he married on July 29, 1967. Julie was his caregiver during his journey with cancer. He never complained about suffering, but he found so much joy in every day. In retirement, Ed enjoyed reading, music, sporting events, playing bridge, Park City-area activities such as monitoring Western blue bird boxes, taking water samples for the Utah Water Watch, and acting as a reading mentor for students in Park City schools, but mainly he supported the various activities of his children and grandsons. Ed is also survived by his son, David Grimm Fiscus (Emaline) of Avon, OH and his daughter, Susan Marie Fiscus Lammey (Steven) of Marlborough, CT; five grandsons, Ralph Mills Fiscus of Colorado Springs, CO; Charlton Edward (Teddy) Fiscus of Salt Lake City, UT; Peter DeLancey Fiscus of Avon, OH; Edward (Eddy) Alan Lammey and Frederick (Fritz) William Lammey of Marlborough, CT; sisters, Ann Arnold of Lakeside Marblehead, OH; Barbara Hakesley, of Seneca, SC; and Judy (Fred) Bechtold of Elkhart, IN; many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the medical staff of the Park City Hospital ER and ICU for their professional care and kindness and also to Ed’s oncologist, Dr. R. Thota. A memorial service will be at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Park City, UT on August 22, 2026, at 10:30 AM. Another service will be held in Bowling Green OH in the Fall. Entombment is at North Lawn Mausoleum, Canton, OH.
