The Skyline Golf Course in Heber City hosted a soft opening event last Tuesday morning.

The course’s board of governors, staff and the Utah Mammoth mascot, Tusky, attended. The board played a round of golf on the new course and afterward had lunch provided by Utah-based chain Jurassic Tacos. Tusky took a ceremonial first tee shot with a hockey stick and an exploding golf ball.

The course opened on Wednesday to the Marcella Club’s membership. Marcella Club is an all-inclusive residents-only lifestyle club in Park City that’s still being developed. Designed by professional golfer Tiger Woods and his company, TGR Design, Skyline hopes to put the final touches on the course and open it in 2027.

Marcella Club will have a second golf course, racquet club and a restaurant at its four locations at Jordanelle Ridge in Heber City, Deer Valley Resort and on Park City’s Main Street.

“We’re still considering this a preview year for our members,” said Marcella Club Vice President of Membership Kirstin Fossey. “We only have temporary amenities at this point. … The golf course is still in its infancy phase of development, and so it’s just going to be more baked by next year.”

Fossey believes Woods and TGR Design laid out a picturesque and perfectly challenging course, as Woods likes to do. The course has views of Heber City and Deer Valley East Village.

“It looks more difficult than it actually is,” Fossey said. “As a golfer, it’s quite playable. People who love difficult golf will be able to play it, and people who need a little more forgiveness will be able to play it as well.”

Marcella Club memberships are only available with a real estate purchase. The club has sold out of combined golf-and-ski memberships, though ski memberships remain. The ski membership includes ski-in, ski-out access, day lockers and four tee times a year at the two golf courses at the guest rate.

“It’s the lifestyle here at Marcella that’s going to set it apart from all the other clubs in the area,” Fossey said. “It is a younger demographic. … It’s going to be fun.”

Reef Capitol Partners CEO Jared Lucero helped cut the ribbon on the course. The real estate investment company is helping to build the Marcella Club.

“It’s the craziest thing in the world,” Lucero said. “We partnered with Tiger Woods, the hero, and so it’s like a bit of a dream that this has come together. … This place is unbelievable. It’s one of the most beautiful golf courses I’ve ever seen, and I’m very excited about it.”

Skyline is the fifth golf course that Reef Capitol Partners helped build. It has worked on five properties, including in Colorado, Hawaii and Virginia.
