A Salt Lake City-are bomb squad disposed of an explosive found at Wasatch County Library Saturday morning.
At approximately 10:30 in the morning, Heber City Police Department received a call from library staff about a suspicious bottle with an attached note indicating it was intended for law enforcement and should not be handled.
The police deployed a K9 unit trained in detecting explosive materials and indicated a positive on the bottle. The library and surrounding area were subsequently evacuated, with traffic temporarily suspended.
A Salt Lake City-area bomb squad assisted Heber City Police. The bomb squad was able to safely address and dispose of the item, according to Heber City Police. The squad cleared the area after sweeping for additional threats.
“At this time, there is no ongoing threat to the community, and normal access to the area has resumed,” the police department said in a statement. “The Heber City Police Department’s investigations team is actively working to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.”
