During the 2025-26 school year at Park City High School, which is set to conclude on Friday with the final day of classes, the Miners sports teams won six state titles: girls cross country, girls swimming, boys hockey, girls golf, girls lacrosse and boys lacrosse.
The six championships are up from the five won by Park City teams during the 2024-25 school year. They pushed the Miners’ school-sanctioned total to 103 — that number excludes hockey, which is not a school-sanctioned sport. Park City remains one of the most dominant schools in Utah, especially in the 4A classification, where most of their teams play.
Many Miners teams will take the summer to train and prepare for the 2026-27 school year. The boys and girls cross country teams, football team, girls flag football teams, boys golf team, girls soccer team, boys and girls water polo teams, girls tennis team and girls volleyball team will get the action going once more when fall comes around.
Before those teams hit the trails, fields and courses, here’s one final look at all of the accomplishments of the 2025-26 Park City teams:
Miners girls cross country
On Oct. 28, the Miners girls cross country team won the state championship. The title was the team’s first since 2014.
Sophomore Tatum Flach led Park City, finishing the 5K race second individually.
“I felt really good, especially for the seniors,” said Park City Co-Head Coach Steve Cuttitta. “They worked really hard. … It’s a whole team win.”
The Miners hope to contend again this fall with plenty of returning talent, including Flach.
Miners girls swimming
On Valentines Day, the Miners girl’s swimming team won the state title.
It was a dominant win for Park City, over 150 team points clear of the next-closest team in the field. The title also marked two-straight for the Miners.
Sophomore Lily Weinberg, sophomore Marlo Erickson, freshman Megan Dillon and senior Anna Klug won the 200 yard medley race, setting the 4A record in the process, and Weinger, Dillon, Klug and sophomore Ella Limback the 200 yard freestyle relay, also setting that 4A record.
“The girls were absolutely the favorites kind of all year,” said assistant coach Heather Flynn. “But, they never relented or let up. They kept training hard.”
Klug was the only senior on the team, and Flynn believes the team’s success will only fuel further participation in the sport in Park City.
Miners Red boys hockey
On Jan. 28, the Miners Red boy’s hockey team won their third-straight state title.
Park City dominated rival Brighton Navy 7-1 in the championship game.
The Miners Red then went on to defeat school-unaffiliated state champion Sky Canyon on Feb. 9 to earn the right to play at nationals, where they won one game and lost two.
“It never gets old winning a state championship,” said Park City Head Coach Mike Adamek. “You never get used to that feeling of watching our kids celebrate or that last five minutes on the bench. It’s kind of the reason why I think we coach this group.”
The Miners Red will look to get more players involved with club hockey this offseason and schedule tough opponents next season, then chase another state title and nationals appearance.
Miners girls golf
On May 7, the Miners girl’s golf team won their first state title in program history.
Park City won the title in a one hole playoff, after originally being told the title was theirs after two days of regulation play.
Freshman Eleanor Henderson, senior Chloe Aldous, sophomore Madeline Hadar and junior Ava Miller were the Miners’ top players during the season and the lineup for the playoff.
“We were able to pull it out with some clutch playing by our kids,” Park City Head Coach George Murphy said. “Having the girls win it in the playoff was almost sweeter and better. … They were a little bit more elated.”
The Miners are returning their entire state team, with the exception of Aldous, and are excited to chase a repeat title in 2027.
Miners girls lacrosse
On May 21, the Miners girl’s lacrosse team won their second-straight state title, defeating Fremont 19-9 at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman.
Star sophomore Natalia Szwajkun scored eight goals to end the season with 100.
“Everybody contributed,” first-year head coach Adam Ghitelman said. “These girls found their best lacrosse at the end of the year, and that’s always the goal.”
Szwajkun and other major contributors like star junior Sophia Mondschein will return next season in search of a three-peat.
Miners boys lacrosse
On May 23, the Miners boy’s lacrosse team closed out the 2025-26 Park City High School athletics season by winning the state title.
The Miners defeated rival Brighton 10-6 at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman. Brighton defeated Park City in the 2024 and 2025 state title games.
Star junior Henry Alnwick led the team with four points in the win.
“What differentiates the good teams from the great teams is the character of the senior class,” Miners Head Coach Michael Persky said. “This group of young men are phenomenal on-and-off the field.”
Park City will graduate 17 seniors, but has players like Alnwick, Brett Hughes and Crew Kimble, who also recorded goals in the championship game, returning next season as they chase a second-straight title.
