Tucked away in Millcreek Canyon, Log Haven Restaurant has been a dining destination for Utahns and visitors for over a century. Now, this establishment is entering a new era, aiming to honor its past while looking toward the future.
Margo Provost, who acquired Log Haven in 1994, has passed ownership to a new team.
Joining Margo in this transition are longtime General Manager Ian Campbell and Executive Chef Dave Jones. While they’ve stepped back from ownership, both will continue to play active roles in mentoring and guiding the restaurant’s staff.
“Log Haven is what it is today because of Margo’s vision, Ian’s leadership, and Dave’s extraordinary culinary talent,” said Faith Scheffler, who will stay on as a minority partner. “Their influence is deeply woven into every corner of this place, and that foundation allows Log Haven to move forward with integrity.”
The new ownership group includes Brandon Hargett, a veteran restaurateur who will lead day-to-day operations and shape the restaurant’s new vision. Hargett also owns āker and Ruby River steakhouses.
He’s joined by Flynn and Teri Paulson, whose financial and operational expertise will be harnessed to support Log Haven’s long-term health.
Together, they’re committed to preserving what they believe makes Log Haven special— the surrounding landscape and reputation for dining experiences.
“This is not just the purchase of a restaurant. It is the responsibility of a legacy,” said Brandon Hargett. “Log Haven is a rare place where food, land, history and community intersect. We are honored to become its stewards and are committed to protecting what makes it special while thoughtfully investing in its future. Places like Log Haven are increasingly rare, and protecting them, not reinventing them, is the responsibility we take most seriously.”
Guests won’t notice dramatic changes overnight, and that is intentional. The focus remains on what they believe Log Haven does best: creating memorable moments through food and hospitality. Behind the scenes, however, investments are being made to support the staff and help ensure the restaurant thrives for decades to come.
The restaurant four miles up Millcreek Canyon was built at the base of cliffs and flowing waterfalls originally as a summer home more than 100 years ago. Today, Log Haven is a popular place for weddings, anniversaries and other gatherings as well as fine dining.
The restaurant is open for dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. weekdays through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Sunday brunch and 4:40 to 9 p.m. for Sunday dinner. Reservations required.
