Summit County detectives are investigating multiple vehicle burglaries in the Run-A-Muk parking lot, according to a departmental shift report.
An individual last week called Summit County Dispatch to report a man climbing out of a parked car through a broken window at the Snyderville Basin dog park. The individual told dispatchers that two vehicles in the parking lot had been broken into and that the man had left in a silver van.
The Park City Police Department located the van and attempted to stop the driver, but the driver fled. Officers initiated a pursuit, but they lost track of the van near the junction of Interstate 80 and S.R. 224.
Investigators are working on identifying the driver to pursue possible charges.
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple other calls between Monday, May 11, and Sunday, May 17, including suspected DUIs, active arrest warrants and an attempted commercial burglary.
Friday, May 15
Deputies stopped a driver in Kimball Junction who had an active warrant for her arrest. During the traffic stop, a K9 indicated the presence of drugs in the car, and deputies found methamphetamine inside. They also discovered the driver had several other warrants for her arrest throughout the state. Deputies arrested the driver and booked her into Summit County Jail.
Thursday, May 14
A local bar called deputies and asked them to locate an individual who was potentially driving while intoxicated. Deputies found the car and initiated a traffic stop. The driver showed signs of impairment and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. The driver was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail.
Wednesday, May 13
Deputies responded to a report of an attempted commercial burglary at a Kimball Junction business. The assistant manager of the business said there was significant damage to the entryway, windows and rear door, “consistent with an attempt to pry them open.” However, the attempts seemed unsuccessful. The damage to the building is estimated to be around $4,800.
Monday, May 12
Deputies saw a car turn onto Bitner Road and travel in the wrong direction before the driver corrected the vehicle. They initiated a traffic stop and observed signs of impairment in the driver, who performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Deputies placed the driver into custody and transported him to the Summit County Jail. The car was impounded.
