Pro-Active Alliance on Saturday began its May Day “Shop Local” pilot project designed to encourage local shopping in the Redstone area near Kimball Junction.
Alliance members gathered at 11 Hauz for a Jamaican lunch and then set off to visit a dozen locally owned stores nearby.

Anyone can participate from now until May 10 by stopping at one of the participating stores, picking up a “Shop Local” card and asking an employee to stamp it. Shops set their own criteria, but purchasing something at one of the stores is a sure way to get a stamp, the alliance said. Shoppers who collect six or more stamps between May 1 and 10 can take a photo of the stamps and send it to Pro-Active Alliance to receive a gift.
Any local shops interested in participating next year should contact [email protected]
