The Miners boys lacrosse team defeated Farmington 9-4 on Friday at home. Sophomore Crew Kimble and senior Tommy Fannon led Park City with three points each in the win against their 6A opponents; Kimble had a goal and two assists and Fannon three goals. The Miners will take on Olympus Tuesday on the road at 7 p.m., looking to continue their seven-game winning streak. Park City has defeated Olympus in the playoffs every season since 2022.
The Miners girls lacrosse team defeated Lone Peak 15-6 on Tuesday at home. Park City took a commanding 9-3 lead into the half, doubling their opponents’ output in the second half. Sophomore Natalia Szwajkun led the Miners with nine points on eight goals and an assist in the win; Senior Olivia Dalton also had five points on a goal and four assists. On a five-game winning streak, Park City will take on undefeated 6A foe Riverton Tuesday at 7 p.m. at home.
The Miners baseball team fell 11-7 to Morgan on Friday at home. Park City followed up a five-run top of the third inning by their opponents with two runs in the bottom of the third and three in the bottom of the fourth to level the game at 6-6, but a five-run top of the fifth for Morgan proved the difference. Freshman Jackson Noonan led the Miners with two RBIs (runs batted in) in the loss. Park City is 11-13 and will close out their regular season with their senior day game Tuesday at home at 3:30 p.m. against Ridgeline. Park City is ranked 20th in the state and will be opening the playoffs on the road Friday, with their opponent to be determined on Thursday morning.
The Miners girls golf team closed out their regular season on Monday by winning the Meadowbrook match with a team score of 315; Juan Diego Catholic trailed Park City in second place with a team score of 323. Freshman Ella Henderson led the Miners on Monday with a score of 74. The win helped Park City secure the regional title with a score of 53; Juan Diego finished with a score of 52 despite shooting 13 less strokes than the Miners over the six regional matches this season. The 4A state tournament will be held next Wednesday and Thursday at Salt Lake City’s Glendale Golf Course.
The Miners boys soccer team dominated Juan Diego Catholic 9-0 on Monday at home. Park City scored eight first half goals in the win, all-but putting the game on ice. The Miners will travel to take on Juan Diego again on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Including Wednesday’s game, the Miners have three regular season games remaining, including Friday night’s senior night game at 7 p.m. against Highland. Park City is ranked 15th in 4A, where the playoffs begin next Friday; if they stay 15th, they will host a first round playoff game.
The Miners track and field team finished in ninth place with 64 team points on Saturday in the Tiger Trials meet at Orem High School; Lone Peak won the meet with 133 team points. Park City’s boys team led the charge with 51 of the 64 points, finishing fourth of the boys teams. The Miners boys 4x100m relay team of Max Andres, Owen Osorio, Brian Roberts and Eli Warner won their race. Park City will be competing in both the BYU Invitational and the Titan Invitational in Provo and Syracuse, respectively, this weekend. The state meet will be held at BYU May 14-16.
The Miners softball team fell 28-4 to Summit Academy at home on Wednesday. A 15-run opening inning and nine-run second inning for Park City’s opponents did them in. Gentry Anderson and Evelyn Riley each had an RBI for the Miners in the loss. Park City is 3-13 heading into Tuesday afternoon’s senior day game at 3:30 p.m. The 4A playoffs will begin this weekend.
The Miners boys volleyball team defeated Jordan 3-1 on Monday at home. Park City dropped the first set 25-19, rallying to win sets two, three and four 25-22, 25-17 and 25-22, respectively. The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Miners, who will close out their regular season on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. on the road against Highland. The 4A playoffs begin on Saturday.
