Park City High School Wednesday morning announced the appointment of Drew Trost as the new head coach of the Miners boys basketball.
Coach Trost joins the Miners with over two decades of head coaching experience, with a career record of 371–141. The school said that his .725 winning percentage cements his reputation as “one of the premier basketball minds in the state of Utah.”
There will be a player and parent/guardian meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 20, in the Lecture Hall at Park City High School to meet Trost and discuss spring and summer programming. All student-athletes interested in playing basketball at Park City High School in grades eight to 11 are encouraged to attend.
“We are incredibly excited that Coach Trost is going to lead the Miners basketball team,” said Principal Caleb Fine. “His priority to help young men develop into the best version of themselves aligns perfectly with our school.”
From 2013 to 2026, Trost coached at Juan Diego Catholic High School and led the Soaring Eagles to a 242–84 record, with nine region championships and three state runner-up finishes. At the Bishop Noll Institute, Trost built a regional powerhouse with a 129–57 record, highlighted by a dominant 26–1 season and a state runner-up finish. He has mentored over 20 student-athletes who transitioned to collegiate basketball, including seven who earned Division I scholarships.
In addition to his coaching duties, he will join the school faculty as a mathematics teacher. He holds a master’s degree from Indiana University and has spent his career emphasizing that academic achievement and character development are just as vital as athletic performance, the school said. His accolades include being named the Utah Best of State High School Coach of the Year, along with numerous other regional Coach of the Year honors. Trost said his programs are built on the foundational pillars of teamwork, accountability, and toughness.
Trost is relocating to the community alongside his wife, Christy, a proud Park City High School alumna, and their three daughters.
