Ferris-Haggarty Mine and Boston & Wyoming Smelter Lecture
Park City Museum and Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History will host a lecture called “The Ferris-Haggarty Mine and Boston & Wyoming Smelter” given by mining engineer Mark Danninger at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at the Education and Collections Center, 2079 Sidewinder Drive. The Ferris-Haggarty Mine and Boston & Wyoming Smelter were located in the Encampment, Wyoming, area and supplied copper for the burgeoning electrification of the United States. The mine and smelter (including a mill/concentrator) were the only sizable copper operations in Wyoming and operated from the 1890s until 1907. For information visit parkcityhistory.org.
‘The Prom’ at the Egyptian Theatre
Ziegfeld Theater Company continues its run of “The Prom,” winner of the Drama Desk Award for Best Musical, April 8-12 at the Egyptian Theatre. Book to Film Club Discussion: ‘The Life of Chuck’
The Summit County Library’s Book to Film Club will gather Thursday at the Kimball Junction Branch, 1885 W. Ute Blvd. to watch Mike Flanagan’s 2024 film “The Life of Chuck,” rated R, and discuss it and Stephen King’s novella of the same name found in his collection, “If It Bleeds.” The screening will start at 6 p.m. Registration is not required. Seed Starting Class
Summit Community Gardens will host a seed starting class from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday at the Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter, 1250 Center Drive. Participants will learn about growing plants from seeds indoors to transplanting them in outdoor gardens once the danger of frost is over. The class will also learn how to pick out or create a potting mix, how to plant different types of seeds, water needs and more. The cost is $35. Park City Library Writing Group
Park City Library, 1255 Park Ave., will host a free writing group at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Since April is National Poetry Month, the group will focus on poetry. Participants are encouraged to bring in favorite poems to share with the group and writing materials and paper to craft their own poems inspired by prompts.
