Nancy Marie DeTamble, 77, passed away peacefully at home on March 20th, 2026, watched over by her husband, Doug, and canine companion, Tika.
Nancy was born in Buffalo, New York, the last of four children, and only daughter of Edwin and Mary Jane DeTamble. During high school she got to spend six months in Siena, Italy, on a student exchange program. She saw the Beatles at Forest Hill, New York in 1964, a memory that never faded. Nancy graduated from Buffalo State University with an education degree. After some false starts in teaching, she made her way to Park City in 1976, where she found her happy place. Nancy met her future husband working at the Grubsteak Restaurant in 1982. Soon the two of them were spending all their free time exploring every canyon, mesa and desert stream in southern Utah. After many happy years at the Grubsteak, Nancy worked at the Snow Creek liquor store, developing more long and lasting friendships.
Nancy’s true purpose and passion was taking in older rescue dogs that were hard to place, and giving them a loving home. Mountain biking, skiing or spending time with her dogs were the activities she loved most. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Nancy is survived by her husband, Doug Cotter, and her older brother Paul DeTamble of Franktown, Colorado. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
