Park City Performing Arts can’t wait to get things rolling at its annual Masquerade Ball.
The nonprofit’s signature fundraiser is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, at St. Regis Deer Valley, and it will be an evening filled with fun and intrigue, said Executive Director Ember Conley.
“We’ll start off the night with a festive cocktail hour that begins with a champagne sabering from 6-7 (p.m.) and then go inside for a nice plated dinner,” she said.
The night will also include a live auction and paddle raise, for three initiatives — student outreach, Creative Aging and veteran and military programming, according to Conley, who is also known as Park City Performing Arts’ “director of fun.”
“With student outreach, we have several artists and performers work with students when they come to town,” she said. “And with Creative Aging, we provide free tickets to our Park City Senior Center and provide discounts for our seniors, who are our young at heart.”
Veterans and those serving in the military have access to $5 tickets during the winter season and $10 in the summer for Park City Performing Arts’ Concerts on the Slopes series during the summer, Conley said.
Money raised will also benefit other programming, she said.
“We have three National Geographic presentations this year, and we’ve made them more accessible to our deaf community by hiring an American Sign Language interpreter,” Conley said. “That’s something new, and it’s been really fun.”
In addition, Park City Performing Arts is expanding its Concerts on the Slopes Series that takes place at the Canyons Village Amphitheater.
“We’re going from 500 reserved seats to 1,000, and the venue’s capacity is moving from 3,500 to 5,000,” Conley said. “So, we’re also looking at purchasing more chairs, and we want to upgrade our chairs for audience members who have disabilities.”
Vail and the Canyons Resort Village Management Association have put in millions of dollars to lower the slope’s grade at the Village Beach so audiences can have a better concert experience, according to Conley.
“So, the funds raised will also help the concerts to have better tech and production,” she said.
Speaking of live bands, the music for the fundraiser will be provided by the Fox Brothers, Conely said.
In addition to the paddle raise, Park City Performing Arts will start a silent auction that night that will be accessible online through March 18.
“We have some great opportunities — great concert getaway weekends, pedicures, manicures and spa days,” she said.
Park City Performing Arts’ programs, let alone the Saints and Sinners Masquerade Gala, wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for the nonprofit’s partnership with St. Regis Deer Valley, Conley said.
“St. Regis is our host sponsor and has, over the years, been a tremendous supporter,” she said. “In the past two years, they have really helped us bring world-class performers to our stages. And we could not do this without them.”
Registration for the Saints and Sinners Masquerade Ball is now open, according to Conley.
“I would love some of our new residents to come and get a taste of what Park City Performing Arts is about,” she said. “It is a gala, so we encourage gowns and tuxes, but of course, you can wear masks.”
