The Park City Police Department in early February continued to receive complaints about noise, a common sort of report during busy times in the community.
The police regularly receive complaints about loud people, music and parties when there are crowds in the community. The most recent cases were logged in the days after the Sundance Film Festival closed, meaning that the issues were not related to the festival crowds.
It seems likely the issues will continue in the coming weeks. The three-day Presidents’ Day weekend is usually a busy period in the community and is followed by the arrival of spring-break crowds in March.
The recent cases did not appear to be serious. Public police logs provided limited details. The police, in many instances, categorize reports like the recent ones as suspected disturbing the peace.
The cases included:
- On Sunday, Feb. 8, at 11:39 p.m., the police were told of a party, described as loud, on Red Maple Court. The people were on a balcony, the person who contacted the police indicated.
- On Saturday, Feb. 7, at 10:14 p.m., someone on Three Kings Drive reported “a lot of noise” in an upstairs residential unit. The police were told there was continuous “banging and loud music.” The person who contacted the authorities, though, said they did not hear voices.
- On Thursday, Feb. 5, at 7:23 p.m., someone on Prospector Avenue reported noise described as “extremely loud bass” that was “making objects move.” The person questioned whether the decibel level was above the allowed limits, according to public police logs.
- On Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 10:43 p.m., someone on Woodside Avenue reported “bass” music.
- On Feb. 4 at 12:12 a.m., a party was reported at Kearns Boulevard apartments.
- On Monday, Feb. 2, at 11:09 p.m., music, described as loud, was reported on Park Avenue. The person who contacted the police was not sure if the sound emanated from a business or another location.
