Main Street will be a pedestrian zone during the opening days of the Sundance Film Festival with several organized activities for the crowds.
It will be the second consecutive year of the pedestrian zone. Park City in 2025 quickly devised a zone on Main Street after a deadly New Orleans truck attack over New Year’s. The pedestrian zone last year was crafted just before the start of Sundance and there was no time to organize programming.
According to City Hall, a community celebration is planned from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. toward the southern end of Main Street on Sunday, Jan. 25, during the opening weekend. The municipal government says a stage will be constructed for concerts and there will be fireworks during the community celebration.
City Hall also said a large screen will be installed at Miners Park and will broadcast simulcasts of festival programming from official venues. A merchandise trailer is planned to be put outside the Filmmakers Lodge on Main Street.
The pedestrian zone is planned from 11 a.m. until 3 a.m. from Jan. 22 until Jan. 26.
