Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies discovered fentanyl and cocaine inside a vehicle after conducting a routine traffic stop on Saturday, according to a departmental shift report.
Deputies pulled over a vehicle in the Snyderville Basin and allegedly found a “glass crack pipe” in the driver’s front pocket. They then initiated a probable cause search of the car and found fentanyl, cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Detectives additionally plan to investigate stolen items found in the car.
Deputies arrested the driver for drug and traffic charges, and the vehicle was impounded.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple other calls between Monday, Dec. 22, and Sunday, Dec. 28, including the discovery of a stolen vehicle, car thefts and suspected DUIs.
Sunday, Dec. 28
Deputies saw a driver commit multiple traffic violations while traveling eastbound on Interstate 80. They observed signs of impairment, and the driver performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Deputies arrested the driver for a suspected DUI and transported the individual to the Summit County Jail.
Friday, Dec. 26
Deputies responded to a vehicle burglary in Summit Park. The complainant said several work-related items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle. No suspect information is available.
Thursday, Dec. 25
An individual in the Summit Park area called the Sheriff’s Office to report an overnight vehicle burglary. A wallet with two credit cards and a driver’s license was taken from the unlocked car, and both credit cards were used in Salt Lake City. There is no information available on a potential suspect, and there were no surveillance cameras in the area.
Tuesday, Dec. 23
A Snyderville Basin resident reported that a wallet and dash camera had been stolen from their car overnight. There was no information available regarding a potential suspect, and there was no video surveillance footage of the theft.
Monday, Dec. 22
Deputies responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle parked at a trailhead near Overland Drive. They determined the car had been stolen overnight in the Salt Lake Valley and abandoned at the trailhead. Deputies collected evidence in the area and contacted the vehicle’s owner.
Deputies stopped a vehicle traveling westbound on Interstate 80 after they observed multiple traffic violations. The driver appeared intoxicated and was unable to follow instructions to participate in a field sobriety test. Deputies found several open containers in the vehicle, and they took the driver into custody for a suspected DUI. The driver was then booked into the Summit County Jail.
