With a history spanning over 40 years in Utah, the Sundance Film Festival will be leaving the mountains of Park City after the 2026 festival concludes. As this year marks Utah’s final Sundance before it relocates to Boulder, CO, there will be plenty of programming designed to commemorate the festival and its local history.
The most notable addition this year is the Park City Legacy Program, which celebrates the festival through a collection of anniversary screenings, exclusive talks from festival alumni, and a culmination event to conclude the festival. The Legacy Program events will take place from January 27-30.
To memorialize Sundance Institute founder Robert Redford, the Legacy Program will host a screening of Downhill Racer (1969). As Redford’s first independent film, Downhill Racer was a major influence in the formation of the Sundance Institute, and this screening will serve as one of the many gatherings designed to celebrate Redford’s memory. Among these events will be a celebration event in Salt Lake City, the Directors Brunch at Sundance Mountain Resort, and an evening event and fundraiser called Celebrating Sundance Institute: A Tribute to Robert Redford.
The fundraiser will take place at the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley and will honor Robert Redford and his founding of the Sundance Institute. This event will also mark the inaugural Robert Redford Luminary Award, which recognizes industry professionals who have broken new ground throughout their careers. The award ceremony will take place during the fundraiser and will be presented to Ed Harris and Gyula Gazdag, who have used their talents to push the needle forward for the Sundance Institute.
As the Sundance Film Festival has been the launchpad for hundreds of notable films throughout its history, the Legacy Program will feature screenings of archival legacy films throughout the festival. These screenings will include films like American Dream (1991), Half Nelson (2006), House Party (1990), Humpday (2009), Little Miss Sunshine (2006), Mysterious Skin (2005), and Saw (2004).
Many of these films have undergone 4K restoration and full soundtrack remaster for these screenings, and each one has gone on to receive accolades outside of the festival. Screenings will also include appearances from the filmmakers and performers whose memorable work made these films part of Sundance’s proud legacy.
Outside of film screenings, the Legacy Program features a selection of talks and presentations as part of the festival’s Beyond Film series. These events will gather Sundance Institute alumni together to discuss Sundance’s Utah history and how the festival’s celebration of storytelling has impacted the world of cinema. For this final Park City series, talks will be centered around Sundance’s presence in Utah as well as what’s in store for the future of the institute.
The Legacy Program will conclude with a culmination event open to the public. Taking place on January 30, this event is about showing appreciation to the festival’s host city along with everyone who has made Sundance what it is today.

Festival Package

Festival Package – Second Half
Valid only during the second week of the Sundance Film Festival, this package is ideal for those who don’t mind cramming their festival experience into a one-week time period. It includes 10 tickets to in-person screenings and is valid from January 28 to February 1 with early access to ticket selection starting on January 12 at 10 am.

Salt Lake City Young Adult Pass
Available exclusively to 18-25-year-olds, the Young Adult Pass offers unlimited screenings and priority access at all Salt Lake City theaters at a discounted rate. This pass is valid from January 22 to February 1.

The Adobe Ignite Package offers 10 in-person and 5 online tickets for attendees between the ages of 18 and 25. This package also offers early ticket selection beginning on January 12 at 10 am. In addition to the screenings, attendees get access to exclusive Adobe Ignite events. This package is valid from January 25 to February 1.

Tickets for single films can be purchased starting on January 14 at 10 am. There is a purchase limit of 10 tickets per screening for single ticket sales.

Festival Pass
This pass includes unlimited access to the Sundance Film Festival’s complete online program which includes on-demand access. The films are limited to one view per film, but this is the way to experience the festival’s full catalogue from wherever you happen to find yourself. This package includes 10 tickets for online screenings along with early access to film selection which begins on January 12 at 10 am. Once tickets are selected, films can be watched on-demand and can be watched when and where you like. This package is valid from January 29 to February 1.
