The most-decorated skier of all time, Mikaela Shiffrin, added to her resume once more on Sunday, winning the Gurgl, Austria World Cup slalom race.
Shiffrin finished with a two run combined time of 1:48.11, over a second quicker than Albania’s Lara Colturi in second place. Switzerland’s Camille Rast rounded out the Gurgl podium in third place and Shiffrin’s U.S. teammate Paula Moltzan finished just off the podium in fifth.
Shiffrin has won both slalom World Cups of the season thus far, in back-to-back weeks. She sits atop the world’s slalom rankings and fourth in the giant slalom rankings after one World Cup in that event.
The women’s tech World Cup season continues in Copper Mountain, Colorado this week. There will be a women’s giant slalom and slalom on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, in Copper Mountain. There will also be men’s super-G and giant slalom races on Thursday (Thanksgiving) and Friday, respectively.
