The Park City Gallery Association showcases premier art and photography galleries featuring both emerging local artists and internationally celebrated names. Art lovers can transform an ordinary afternoon into an extraordinary cultural adventure with friends and family by visiting multiple galleries together.
“We want to bring some vibrancy to Main Street,” says Jen Schumacher, Co-president of the Park City Gallery Association and owner of Trove Gallery. “We have a record 17 members this year. Where else can you go and park your car and walk to that many galleries in a five-block span?”
“We have strength in numbers on Main Street,” Schumacher continues. “It’s very alluring for people to say, ‘let’s spend the day going to galleries’ instead of just being able to go to one.”
Many of the galleries in Park City take pride in supporting a diverse range of artists, showcasing works not only from talented local creators but also from renowned artists across the country. By featuring such a mix, these galleries enable visitors to experience a variety of perspectives and styles in one location.
Yet, one of the significant challenges galleries face today is the widespread accessibility of artists online, which has transformed how art is discovered and purchased. With various social media platforms and digital marketplaces available, many artists can bypass traditional gallery representation, directly connecting with collectors and art enthusiasts.
But local galleries bring together creative works and those who want to view or purchase them in special ways. Schumacher says it’s important to support local galleries so they can continue to thrive.
“I have seen a lot of changes on Main Street, and most have been for the better,” Schumacher remarks. “Generally, the galleries know one another’s works and artists and are able to send people in the right direction [when looking for something specific].”
“There is a lot of art in our little state,” she adds. “We want to bring awareness and let people know that even during Sundance, year-round, we have a gallery stroll.”
Gallery Stroll: Where Art Comes Alive
Every last Friday of the month from 6 to 9 pm, Park City’s Main Street becomes an artist’s canvas where participating galleries showcase diverse collections spanning multiple genres, styles, and eras. Each stroll offers new discoveries, from cutting-edge contemporary pieces to timeless classics. Four of the galleries are located off Main Street, so check the gallery map on the Park City Gallery Association website to chart a course on these monthly strolls.
“Every day can be a gallery stroll,” reminds Schumacher. “They are locally owned, and it’s a very personal experience.”
In addition to the gallery strolls, the association has hosted three annual music strolls in partnership with PC Creates and Mountain Town Music. Throughout the year, several different galleries will have live music themed to match the stroll.
