A family dog thwarted a burglar’s attempts to enter a Kimball Junction home last week, according to a shift report from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to investigate the attempted burglary after an individual opened a home’s sliding glass door while a teenager was inside. However, the family’s German Shepard chased the would-be burglar away, and the individual fled on foot through a trail running between neighboring buildings.
Deputies searched the area and were unable to find the alleged burglar or any identifying information. The case was closed due to a lack of evidence.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple other calls between Monday, Nov. 10, and Sunday, Nov. 16, including a bomb threat and driving under the influence.
Saturday, Nov. 15
Deputies pulled over a driver in the Snyderville Basin after observing a “driving pattern consistent with impairment.” The driver was reportedly heavily intoxicated and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Deputies arrested the driver and booked the individual into the Summit County Jail following a DUI investigation.
Monday, Nov. 10
A business on Highland Drive received a bomb threat from an anonymous email account. Deputies and a bomb K-9 investigated the building and did not find any explosive devices.
