A Park City-based online business, Audry Rose Jewelry, is experiencing a major boom after Taylor Swift was seen wearing one of its unique pieces, a lock necklace with a diamond lariat.
It all started when a friend sent Jaclyn a photo of Swift wearing the necklace in an Instagram post. After some research, the couple discovered the purchase was made in August. Swift was seen wearing the piece within hours of receiving it.
Owners Jaclyn and Kevin Elbaum have seen their orders and their website traffic jump since the public display. The piece was inspired by an antique watch chain, which holds deep sentimental value for Jaclyn. Jaclyn, from New York, has a background in fashion, and Kevin, originally from Los Angeles, has a background in marketing. Their fine jewelry business allowed them to combine their two areas of expertise.
“The piece she chose is incredibly personal to me. I spent over five hours with our jeweler hand-carving every element until it felt just right. Even the chain is handmade,” Jaclyn said. “We named it after our daughter, Sloan, and it was inspired by an antique watch chain. The lariat she bought is a piece I originally designed for my mom’s 70th birthday, so having her select both pieces made the moment even more special.”
The Elbaums, who started their online business in Los Angeles 10 years ago, moved to Park City five years ago and are now looking to open a brick-and-mortar store, with their sights set on a location on Park City’s Main Street. They wed in Park City a decade ago.
This celebrity endorsement couldn’t have come at a better time.
“Being based here has played a huge role in our identity,” Jaclyn said. “The textures and landscape of Utah influence so much of our design work, and building the brand while raising my family here has grounded the entire process in community and intention.”
There are over 400 pieces in their catalog, with new ones released every Friday. Prices range from $80 for charms to $10,000 and more for other solid-metal jewelry pieces. Swift’s piece retailed for around $9,000.
The couple and their two small children said they embrace the mountain lifestyle, spending their free time exploring the natural beauty that surrounds them.
“Park City is just so good, once you see it, you can’t unsee it,” Kevin said. “We grew up on the coast and in New York, but once we realized we could work from anywhere, it became obvious [to move here].”
