It is almost a year since candidate Trump was again elected president of the United States of America. His influence on change has been unprecedented. Let us examine some of his accomplishments.
One of his first priorities was to pardon 1,600 convicted felons involved in the Jan. 6 insurrection. This decision should have been a red flag to the nation that more radical changes were to occur. To expedite his perceived view of “make America great again,” he needs dictatorial immunity, and the Republican-led Congress has acquiesced to his every demand. So much for congressional oversight.
Along with billionaire Elon Musk, he has managed to significantly eliminate or drastically reduce federal government agencies and employees under the pretext of saving taxpayers millions of dollars. Unfortunately, by doing so, he is depriving millions of citizens of services that were previously available and were necessary for their well-being! The total effects of his cost-reducing measures are yet to be determined.
In his zeal to accomplish his presidential campaign promise to eliminate illegal immigrants in and from entering this country, his method of deploying ICE police, national guardsmen and military services to arrest suspected illegal aliens is unconscionable.
Never has America experienced the use of the U.S. military in cities in an effort to control perceived crime and illegal immigrants. That is constitutionally the jurisdiction of state and local governmental authorities to control. Yet the president continues to break the law that prohibits the use of the military for domestic concerns. Where are the guardrails?
His continued use of outlandish rhetoric describing Democrats and his perceived enemies is unpresidential. It is the opinion of many that his continued demeaning behavior with others is creating a greater chasm between political parties and citizens as well. I wonder what world leaders think of his rhetoric and diplomatic mannerism.
His dismantling of federal services and the firing of thousands of workers; his selection of cabinet officials that are enablers rather than advisors; his campaign statement that “I am your retribution” and having the DOJ indict Comey, James and Bolton on criminal charges are but a few of his accomplishments. Is this the protocol of a president or a king?
Many citizens are appalled at his recent decision to tear down the East Wing of the White House for a larger ballroom. Constructed in 1902, the building has entertained numerous world leaders over the years. His action is a violation because the White House is the people’s house. He is merely a guest for four years, not a homeowner. He should have requested permission from Congress before destroying years of history for his self-aggrandizement. May God bless America!
