Parkites finally have a real chance to be heard on the future of the 5-acre Bonanza Park site on Thursday at City Hall, likely around 7:30 p.m. It’s the last item on the agenda, and your voice matters.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create something unique, vibrant and lasting at Park City’s eastern gateway. The original plan centered on arts, culture and community, but since the Sundance Film Festival and the Kimball Arts Center withdrew, that vision is at risk.
We shouldn’t replace that dream with 35– to 45-foot-high buildings and reduced open space. The city should preserve more green area, not less, and ensure the Arts Council of Park City and Summit County has a permanent home in the project. Affordable housing is important, but we also need a place where locals can gather, walk, listen to music and connect.
Let’s show up and speak up — for the Park City we love.
