There are many reasons our mountain town is an incredible place to call home. While such attributes as our beautiful mountains and world class ski resorts are what Park City is known for, it really is our people that make it such an extraordinary place. A shining example of our generous and supportive residents is the over 120 local nonprofit organizations that enrich the lives of our entire community.
Park City Senior Citizens Inc. plays a key role in our community as we provide a caring and supportive environment for our resident seniors. For our seniors, the activities, sustenance, and social interactions facilitated by the Senior Center represent a critical and essential community service.
The Park City Senior Center offers a place to exercise, be creative, stay informed or enjoy a lunch with friends. The Park City Senior Center is open to members of our senior community Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located at 1361 Woodside Ave. Our current members number over 650. This year, January through September, 191 distinct programs and services were offered, 1,079 individuals engaged in these activities, and 549 lunches were served.
Unlike nearly every other senior center in Utah, the Park City Senior Center cannot rely on ongoing direct funding from a government entity to pay administrative staff or fund a robust activities program. The board of Park City Senior Citizens Inc. is comprised of 100% volunteers. To continue and hopefully expand our programs and accommodate the growing senior population, we need your help.
The Park City Senior Center is heavily reliant on donations from members, their friends and families, and other supporters within our community to keep our doors open.
On Nov. 7, Park City Community Foundation, Park City Senior Citizens Inc., and all nonprofit organizations are inviting you to support the community, organizations, services, events, people and places that you love. I want to personally invite you to donate to our cause in hope that you will support our mission to continue providing a fun, friendly, active home away from home for our seniors.
