We have debated sharing our choices for this election. We have met with all the candidates — at least once — some twice. We are also clear that each of you running is doing so at great personal and professional cost. We admire your determination and hard work.
Supporting Ryan for mayor is the smart choice for our community. We gain a former planning commissioner and a current City Council person. He has been firmly entrenched in this community for more than 14 years with his local business, shared with his wife. His children attend local schools. He knows the job ahead.
Tana, a third-generation Parkite, has the most sterling local pedigree with her family and their Main Street business going back 63 years. She understands what Main Street needs to stay the precious jewel it is. And her family have been members of the ski racing/jumping community for decades. With the Olympics on the horizon, she uniquely gets what is at stake. And we have to say it out loud — she is the only woman left running.
Our third choice is Diego. He represents a large group of underrepresented residents, including the not-for-profit sector. And young people from the Latinx community. He cares deeply for this town and he shows up for residents and guests alike.
What we are unanimous about is this — voting. You decide where we are headed. What we will look like. Who has a voice at the table.
