It’s hard to go anywhere around town with Diego because he is constantly stopping to say hello to someone. It could be the person behind the checkout counter, a college student that he mentored, or a volunteer at a local nonprofit. He knows everyone!
This is what sets Diego apart — his ability to bring people together regardless of their socioeconomic background. He listens with respect, seeks common ground, and builds bridges. That kind of leadership is exactly what Park City needs right now.
I had the privilege of working closely with Diego Zegarra during our many years together at the Park City Community Foundation. I’ve watched his growth as a leader with deep admiration. Diego is one of those rare individuals who learns quickly, leads with humility, and acts with courage when decisions need to be made.
When the world came to a halt in March 2020 with the COVID-19 stay-at-home order, Diego’s leadership ensured families across our community were safe and secure. He led the effort to effectively and efficiently deploy more than $3.8 million in relief funds. When a program wasn’t working, he made the call to redirect funds where they were most impactful. His deep connections with working families made it possible to meet people’s urgent needs in a challenging and unprecedented moment.
Diego has demonstrated again and again that he doesn’t shy away from complexity or challenge. He tackles tough issues with nuance and care. I wholeheartedly support Diego for City Council and know that he will serve our community with the same integrity I experienced working alongside him for years.
