Ryan Dickey is without question the right person to lead Park City as it’s next mayor in November. He already possesses that rare ability to listen, evaluate options, get the right stakeholders on board, and act with conviction. People follow him, because they trust him. He actually delivers results and does what he says he will do.
One thing he is not? A politician who will say or do anything to get elected. He is a leader and a problem solver. This is exactly what Park City needs at this point in it’s evolution.
Mr. Dickey has already identified the top two priorities for his first 100 days: lead council to make a decision on the Bonanza arts and culture land, and to fix transportation along the 248 corridor.
Meanwhile, his opponent has stated he will take that time to plan and form relationships.
Which candidate do you believe will actually get something accomplished during those first 100 days?
Mr. Dickey already has those important relationships established. He has worked with virtually everyone in city hall and county government. He has served on numerous boards and councils at both the county and city level. He will hit the ground running on day one. Look at the endorsements already made on his behalf: Past and present Summit County officials, including every current member of the County Council, non-profit leaders, past and present city council members, and yes, every former mayor since 1990.
His opponent has none of these. So instead, he ridicules these endorsements as if these community leaders did nothing during their time in office but run Park City into the ground.
Really? For 35 years this has been going on? I personally see this as an insult to not only those officials, but also to the the majority of Parkites who actually elected them!
We must really be a dumb lot! Is this place we all love really that bad? Funny how such a terrible place routinely shows up on countless “best places in America” lists every year.
Meanwhile, his opponent expects us to believe that the right course of action is to “throw the bums out” and start all over with a clean slate. Good luck with that approach! We live in Utah, not New York or D.C. Having good relationships actually means something here.
Mr. Dickey will most certainly lead this community into a brighter future, because he knows that ideas mean nothing without action. Staff and community stakeholders will follow his lead because they trust his character and his common sense ideas, and that the best days for our community are ahead of us when we all work together toward a common vision.
One last thought to share. Ryan and his wife didn’t move here after they had made their money somewhere else. They actually walked away from high-powered careers in big cities because they fell in love with Park City and decided this was where they wanted to plant roots and raise a family.
They started a community association management company that soon became one of the most successful businesses of its type in the area. They are here for the long haul, and have every incentive to improve the quality of life for all of us, because they are actually one of us!
