I saw this act of vandalism on the Angle Station on Park City Mountain on Sept. 7 after a beautiful uphill bike ride. My heart broke. I contacted the Park City Police, who stated it was Vail Resorts’ problem. For many of you reading this, this building may hold no significance, but I will give you a very short history lesson on why I was brought to tears when I saw that it had been tagged.
The Angle Station was a midpoint for the gondola at Park City Mountain that ran for 36 years during 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and the early 1990s. Thousands of skiers and snowboarders were transported through this building in order to get to the top of the resort.
It is a historical building, and those of us who were here during those years remember being transported through it. Although it is no longer used as a transition point, it deserves to be respected and preserved, as do many of the old historical buildings in this town.
To Yamir, Giselle or to the person who tagged this wonderful building on their behalf, you may think that you are an artist expressing your talent. You are not an artist, you are just a vandal and you will eventually get caught. The next time you want to vandalize a building, please stop and think, is it really worth it to hurt a business, house, or a building with historical significance?
That said, I highly doubt you have enough scruples or self-control, thus making you nothing but a criminal.
