Thank you to the organizers of Just Serve for hosting such a meaningful Day of Service this past Saturday. From serving breakfast at City Park to coordinating efforts with a multitude of nonprofits and their many service projects — well done.
The day started with a community breakfast and short program at City Park before volunteers fanned out across the city to work on a variety of projects — from painting and weeding to providing feedback for a pilot communications training. The wide range of service opportunities meant that there was truly something for everyone, no matter their age, ability, or interest.
In the tumultuous times we are living in, it was both refreshing and deeply needed to come together in service. I met many new people, reconnected with others I hadn’t seen in ages, and left feeling reminded that while our community has changed in many ways, the spirit and fabric that hold us together are still very much alive.
