The Park City Song Summit is in full swing with wellness and concerts at City Park and lab discussions at the Park City Library’s Jim Santy Auditorium.
The Foundation Stage, which is set up across the Main Stage at City Park, is sponsored by the Song Summit Foundation, the philanthropic branch of the Park City Song Summit that fosters wellness and empowers communities to create a future where artists and audiences can thrive, connect and heal through music, according to its mission statement.
The Foundation debuted a program called Summit Rising this year, and that program “empowers emerging musicians ages 14-22 through mentorship, performance opportunities, wellness support and real industry experience at Park City Song Summit,” according to Executive Director Meredith Lavitt.
“Summit Rising is our newest program that is designed for emerging artists ages 14 to 22 — locally, nationally and internationally,” she said. “Participants engage in music labs, discussions, live performances and mentorship sessions with experienced musicians who foster creativity and confidence.”
One of the ways Summit Rising will uplift the next generation of musicians is putting them on the Foundation Stage, according to Lavitt.
“We want to provide a program where they can come together and explore each other’s artistic talents, jam together and also have the opportunity to work with the professional musicians who are performing,” she said.
The performances, which feature musicians from Utah, New Orleans and Cuba, continue Saturday, Aug. 16, as follows:
- 4 p.m. — Autumn
- 4:55 p.m. — Merakirozes
- 6:45 p.m. — Trombone Shorty Academy
- 8:30 p.m. — Primera Linea

The Park City Song Summit also presents free concerts in the morning at the Songwriters Porch stage at Library Field. Some of those performances are by Summit Rising artists and bands.
