When I was young, JK and Nancy were there for me and my family in a way no one else had been. They took a real interest in me, someone outside their culture, offering their time, support and care. That made them different.
When I became the first in my family to be accepted into college, they took me to Salt Lake City to buy clothes so I’d feel confident and special before I left. Last year, I graduated from the University of Utah with a 3.6 GPA.
They never asked for recognition, but I want people to know: Without their belief in me, I’m not sure where I’d be. JK and Nancy are truly special to my community.
