Now that the recent letter to the editor titled “Demeaning remarks” on comments falsely attributed to John “JK” Kenworthy has been debunked by transcripts taken during the meeting, it is time for Mayor Nann Worel to lead the charge in drafting a public and formal apology to Mr. Kenworthy.
The most recent letter to the editor, “Righting a wrong to clear the air,” exemplifies the outrageous blunder the mayor and others made in attaching their names in attempt to defame Mr. Kenworthy and derail his candidacy for Park City Council.
We may see these attempts of a political hit (yes, I’ll use the contemporary cliché) elsewhere in our country’s politics, but it doesn’t embody how leadership in our diverse community should act.
Step up, Mayor Worel. Do the right thing and apologize on behalf of everyone else involved for the egregious misinformation and organized weaponization of politics.
