Back in 2012, I fell in love with Park City’s blue skies, open spaces and community spirit like no other. The biggest concern was whether dogs should be leashed (they usually weren’t, and unleashed always won). I changed my area code, called it home, and never looked back.
The following summer, my off-leash dog and I stopped for coffee near Main Street. I struck up a conversation with the friendly barista who turned out to be the mayor. Outside Magazine had just declared Park City the Best Town Ever. When I asked Mayor Dana Williams what he thought, he smiled and said, “It’s nice to be recognized for what we haven’t built.”
Those words stuck with me. It’s our people, our landscapes, and our shared values that make this place extraordinary. Which is why I’m proud to endorse Jack Rubin for mayor.
I’ve known Jack and his wife Jamie since they moved here. We’ve shared trails, chairlifts, conversations and community life. Jack’s deeply involved in nonprofits, leads thoughtful gatherings, and listens more than he speaks. He knows what makes Park City special and will fight to preserve it while guiding us forward.
Jack’s not running to reinvent Park City. He’s running to protect what makes it great and ensure our future reflects the values that brought us here. He isn’t a Park City insider, and that’s a good thing. He brings no political baggage and isn’t looking to climb a ladder. He’s here to serve us by amplifying our voices and helping us guide council decisions.
Jack listens first and leads with humility, care and integrity. His platform centers on transparency, common-sense solutions, and staying true to the character of Park City. I’ve seen his heart for this community and his leadership in action.
Jack Rubin is exactly the kind of leader we need if Park City hopes to still be recognized for what we haven’t built. Let’s protect our people, our landscapes, and our shared values, and let’s keep this the Best Town Ever with Jack.
