I have known Diego since we first met when he was in Leadership Class 20 and I was on the Summit County Council (or aspiring). His level of engagement in the overall health and welfare of the community has been in depth. I have known him as a student of government and an effective communicator despite the sea of loud and shrill voices that confront us all. Diego’s commitment to all of us is manifest in his role with the Community Foundation.
We need Diego for his broad skills in community building and to carry on the cooperation in our combined efforts in all matters. Prior to Mayor Nann Worel, this relationship with the county had virtually ground to a standstill with conflicts on everything from health and human services to traffic and transportation.
We have turned an important corner in our relationship under Nann’s leadership, and we are beginning to move forward, but we need to expand that effort. Diego has demonstrated his capabilities and intent, and we want him on the council irrespective of which side of the border you live on.
