I’ve had the privilege of living in this community for over 25 years. In that time, I’ve met countless people who care deeply about Park City. But it’s rare to find someone like Diego Zegarra — someone who not only cares, but also connects, mobilizes, and builds with intention across every part of our town.
I’ve known Diego since 2016, when we worked side by side to launch the Solomon Fund, now known as Youth United, a program that expands access to sports, arts and recreation for young people in our community. That effort was not just about activity – it was about dignity and opportunity. It was about making sure every child could see themselves in this place and have access to the full promise of growing up here. Were it not for Diego and the team he put in place, my idea would never have taken hold.
Seldom have I seen someone move so naturally between sectors and spaces. Whether hosting a bilingual outreach table at a school event or speaking with donors at a cocktail gathering in Park Meadows, Diego represents us all by speaking the language of belonging. His leadership is grounded, fluent in both empathy and strategy.
Winston Churchill once said, “There are two kinds of success – initial and ultimate.” Diego has always chosen the latter: success that is sustained, collective, and just: for ALL of us.
When I first met Diego, he told me his dream was to be mayor one day. With your vote he can be on his way. Park City would be lucky to have his voice on City Council.
