Park City is so fortunate to have so many local residents willing to step up and do the heavy lifting as a City Council person. This position requires a serious commitment to community before self, passion, a lot of backbone and a willingness to put personal agendas aside. This year’s local elections are critical to our Park City future.
Among the candidates this year is incumbent Jermey Rubell, who I feel has failed to check all of those boxes. I feel that Mr. Rubell was grinding an axe when he was elected and continued to grind that axe for the full four years of his term on City Council. It is my opinion that his personal agenda and relentless obsessive axe-grinding was a huge waste of city staff time, including legal time and expense. I also feel that he demoralized too many staff and residents alike while impacting the operations and safe public access to two successful businesses of 50+ years!
Mr. Rubell chose to buy a house next to the Park City Golf Course and the White Pine Touring Nordic Center, and immediately thereafter began complaining about the day-to-day noise and activities of the golf course and touring center (all of which activities have been going on for decades). He also verbally attacked employees and guests of the courses, with one incident resulting in his infraction for disorderly conduct during an encounter with an employee of White Pine.
We have plenty of great candidates running for City Council this year, all of whom are extremely qualified, Park City passionate, community minded, and above all are ready and willing to earn and honor the trust of our Park City community.
Please take the time to attend candidate debates and neighborhood “meet and greet” events to ask your questions and become familiar with what each candidate can bring to the table to help address our community concerns, plan for our future, and keep Park City moving forward. Please vote!
