U.S. Ski Team: Last Saturday, former speedskier Bode Miller was inducted into the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Hall of Fame. Miller won six Olympic medals during his career, including the 2010 alpine super combined gold, and 33 World Cups. Miller’s fellow inductees included Serena Williams, Allyson Felix and Gabby Douglas. “We’re proud to welcome the Class of 2025 into the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Hall of Fame and to honor the extraordinary accomplishments they’ve made as representatives of Team USA. This induction celebrates not only their remarkable performances and lasting impact but also acknowledges the essential contributions of those who supported their journeys every step of the way,” said CEO of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee, Sarah Hirshland.
Wednesday night at the ESPY’s, parasnowboarder Noah Elliott won his first award. Elliott won the ESPY’s Best Athlete with a Disability award, winning his second-straight overall and banked slalom Crystal Globes this past season. Elliott, 28, started parasnowboarding for the U.S. team in 2016 following the loss of his left leg due to cancer. “I couldn’t be more proud,” said Elliott. “This is such an achievement. I couldn’t be more proud to be here representing adaptive sports and the parasnowboard community.” Speedskier Lindsey Vonn was also up for the Best Comeback Athlete ESPY Wednesday, which gymnast Suni Lee walked away with.
Woodward: Thursday evening, Woodward Park City will be hosting another edition of its Beer Yoga series. People can partake in a yoga session for free from 6-7 p.m. then enjoy beers with others. A $5 ticket gets attendees two Wasatch Brewery or Squatters Craft beers. Eventful Yoga in town leads the yoga sessions. The series runs every other Thursday through Sept. 4.
Friday evening, Woodward will be hosting a cork clinic on their indoor trampolines. Kids ages 6 and up can master their flips and twists alongside expert coaches. The clinic will run from 5-6 p.m. and is free to members and $25 for nonmembers.
Also Friday, Woodward will be hosting their second of four Play Forever Fridays. Bike park tickets will be discounted to $15, with 15% of those ticket proceeds going to a featured nonprofit. After Friday, the remaining Play Forever Friday dates will be Aug. 12 and Sept. 26.
