Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies recovered four stolen firearms in their original retail packaging from a Silver Creek business last week.
The firearms were allegedly donated to the business, though the serial numbers were confirmed to be listed as stolen on a national database, according to a shift report. Deputies subsequently booked the guns into evidence.
There are currently no suspects or “known circumstances” regarding the donation.
The case is under investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple other calls between Monday, June 23, and Sunday, June 29, including drug possession and a search for overdue recreators.
Thursday, June 26
Summit County Dispatch issued an attempt-to-locate call for a vehicle driving westbound on Interstate 80 that was allegedly involved in a theft in Wyoming. Deputies found the car and initiated a traffic stop. They reportedly discovered multiple loaded firearms, drugs and drug paraphernalia inside. The driver was transported to the Summit County Jail, and the vehicle was impounded.

Summit County Search and Rescue was notified of an overdue party recreating near Anchor Lake in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Deputies were able to contact members of the party, who said they were leaving the forest but were delayed because of issues with their vehicle.
