The Song Summit Foundation invites the public to enjoy some music and free pizza June 26 at Este Pizzeria.
The free, two-hour event will start at 5:30 p.m. and feature live music by singer-songwriters Cactus Tree and Tinsley, said Song Summit Foundation Executive Director Meredith Lavitt.
“This is one of our community events that we host throughout the year, and it’s a way to give back to the community and a way to educate the community about the powerful impact music can have on people’s lives,” she said. “Our mission at Song Summit Foundation is to harness and use that transformative power of music for education and wellness.”
Cactus Tree is an artist from Salt Lake City, as is Tinsley, according to Lavitt.
“Tinsley is also going to be one of our Summit Rising musicians who will perform and participate during the upcoming Park City Song Summit,” she said.
Summit Rising is a Song Summit Foundation program that “empowers emerging musicians ages 14-22 through mentorship, performance opportunities, wellness support and real industry experience at Park City Song Summit,” according to its mission.
“We want to raise awareness of uplifting the next generation of musicians,” Lavitt said.
This year’s Park City Song Summit will run Aug. 14-16 at City Park, and it will be the official debut of Summit Rising, according to Lavitt.
“We’ve had youths at the festival in the past, but this year we want to bring them together as cohorts,” she said. “They’ll have their own venue, and they’ll have their own labs and workshops that are tailored to them.”
LP Giobbi is confirmed to give a DJ lab, and others are in the works, Lavitt said.
“We heard loud and clear last year that the youths want opportunities to create and jam amongst themselves,” she said. “So, we want to say to them that their voices matter, we believe in them and want to help lift them up.”
In the meanwhile, community events such as next Thursday’s showcase at the pizza parlor will lead up to the Song Summit, Lavitt said.
“It’s open to all ages, and we’ll have a discussion with Cactus Tree and Tinley who will talk about how music has positively affected them and their relationship with music and wellness,” she said.
In addition to the live music, free food and discussion, the event will include a cash bar for adults and an opportunity to win two tickets to the Song Summit, Lavitt said.
“Once you arrive, you can sign in and be automatically entered to win two general admission tickets,” she said.
RSVPs are highly encouraged, Lavitt said.
“They will help Este know how many pizzas they need to make,” she said. “So if you can RSVP, please, do. But if you want to just show up, you can do that as well.”
Donations will also be accepted, Lavitt said.
“This is just a gathering and about spreading the world about the Song Summit Foundation and Summit Rising, but if people want to donate, they can,” she said.
Lavitt is grateful to Este Pizzeria for providing the space and donating all the pizza for the party.
“They are wonderful to work with, and we share a common goal of bringing the community together with great events,” she said.
