Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies reportedly seized 1.6 ounces of crystal methamphetamine during a traffic stop last week.
Deputies stopped a vehicle on S.R. 248 near Kamas on June 5 for driving with a revoked registration and without insurance, according to a shift report from the Sheriff’s Office.
A K9 unit detected the possible presence of narcotics during the investigation, and deputies subsequently searched the vehicle. They allegedly found approximately 1.6 ounces of crystal methamphetamine and several open containers of alcohol.
The driver was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail on suspected drug-related charges.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple other calls between Monday, June 2, and Sunday, June 8, including driving under the influence and vehicle theft.
Sunday, June 8
Deputies patrolling in the Jeremy Ranch area spotted a vehicle matching the description of a stolen car. They spoke to the driver, who was identified in the reported theft. Deputies took the driver into custody and seized the vehicle to search for burglary tools and other potentially stolen property.
Saturday, June 7
Deputies saw a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road in the Snyderville Basin area and approached the driver. They reportedly observed multiple open containers in the car, and the smell of alcohol emanated from the vehicle. The driver performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and deputies took the individual into custody. They then transported the driver to the hospital for medical clearance before taking them to the Summit County Jail. The vehicle was impounded.
Deputies were dispatched to a report of a vehicle on the side of the road on U.S. 40, which was initially spotted by a passing Park City Police Department officer. They contacted the driver, who allegedly smelled like alcohol and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Deputies took the driver into custody and transported the individual to jail.
Friday, June 6
Summit County Dispatch advised deputies to locate a vehicle that couldn’t maintain its lane of travel on Interstate 80. Deputies then found the car traveling south on S.R. 224 and allegedly observed the same violations dispatchers described. They stopped the driver, who appeared intoxicated and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Deputies placed the driver under arrest and transported the individual to the Summit County Jail. The vehicle was impounded, and a dog inside the car was taken to animal control.
Monday, June 2
Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted Wasatch County and the Utah Highway Patrol in a pursuit that ended on eastbound I-80.
