The driver involved in a single-vehicle rollover near Kamas over the weekend was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence, according to a shift report from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies on Sunday responded to S.R. 32 to investigate the accident and concluded the driver had reportedly been drinking. The driver subsequently performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and deputies found open containers in the vehicle.
The driver was medically cleared at the local hospital and then booked into the Summit County Jail under suspicion of driving under the influence. The vehicle was impounded.
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple calls between Monday, May 5, and Sunday, May 11, including trespassing, outstanding warrants and drug possession.
Saturday, May 10
Deputies responded to a report of a man yelling in the stairwell of a condominium complex near Pinebrook. The condo owner requested deputies formally trespass the man from the property after deputies contacted him.
Deputies identified a vehicle with attached arrest warrants in the parking lot of a Kimball Junction retail store. The driver was placed under arrest because of the warrant, but deputies found controlled substances and drug paraphernalia in the car during the investigation. They charged the driver with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The driver was transported to the Summit County Jail.
Deputies responded to a gas station in Coalville “for a homeless female who was not making any sense.” The woman told deputies she had drug paraphernalia with her and that she “used to smoke ‘blue.’” Deputies found tin foil with a burnt black residue on it, and they took the woman into custody. While checking her into the Summit County Jail, they found a straw with the same burnt black residue inside. She was booked for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Friday, May 9
Employees of a Kimball Junction hotel reported two people working on cars in the parking lot. They also told deputies the situation has been an ongoing issue. Deputies contacted the two people and formally trespassed them from the property.
Deputies observed a vehicle with an equipment violation traveling on S.R. 224 and initiated a traffic stop. They deployed a K9 unit during the investigation, and the K9 indicated the presence of narcotics. Deputies searched the vehicle and found multiple drug paraphernalia items and multiple controlled substances. The two occupants were arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail.
Wednesday, May 7
Deputies noticed a suspicious vehicle at a gas station in the Snyderville Basin area. They initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle after it left the business. Both the driver and the passenger had outstanding warrants for their arrest, and deputies took them into custody. They also found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
