Summit County sheriff’s deputies located a stolen vehicle Friday on Old Highway 40 after Summit County Dispatch alerted them to an auto theft reported in the area.
Deputies took the driver of the vehicle into custody, according to a shift report from the Sheriff’s Office.
During the investigation, deputies discovered the driver allegedly entered the registered owner of the car’s residence without permission and stole the keys.
The driver was booked into the Summit County Jail for burglary of a dwelling and theft of a motor vehicle.
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple other calls between Monday, April 14, and Sunday, April 20, including domestic violence, outstanding warrants and driving under the influence.
Saturday, April 19
Deputies were dispatched to a “previously reported intoxicated individual” who was driving on Ute Boulevard. They initiated a traffic stop, and the driver was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail.
Deputies responded to an active domestic violence call in Oakley and learned an intoxicated person had assaulted their spouse. There were children present at the residence when the alleged assault occurred. The person was arrested on domestic violence charges and booked into jail.
Thursday, April 17
Deputies responded to the parking lot of a Kimball Junction business after receiving reports of a person drinking alcohol in a vehicle. They arrested the person for an outstanding warrant, driving on a revoked license and violating open container laws.
Wednesday, April 16
Deputies conducted a high-risk traffic stop on a stolen vehicle on Interstate 80 and took the driver into custody. They searched the car and found drug paraphernalia. The driver was booked into jail.
Tuesday, April 15
Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the Snyderville Basin on a man with an active warrant. The man provided false information to law enforcement, and he had a suspended driver’s license and no insurance. He was also in violation of his ignition interlock device requirements and possessed methamphetamine. He was booked into the Summit County Jail for the warrant, drug possession and providing false information, as well as traffic offenses.
Monday, April 14
Deputies responded to a domestic dispute at a Snyderville Basin hotel after an altercation between a woman and an allegedly intoxicated man disturbed both staff and guests. The man was arrested “to keep the peace and ensure the safety of the parties involved.” During the arrest, deputies found the man also possessed THC. He was transported and booked into the Summit County Jail.
