Park City Mountain on Monday reported a “serious incident” involving a 37-year-old male skier visiting from Arizona who struck a tree Saturday afternoon at Park City Mountain’s Canyons side.
The skier crashed on an advanced trail off of the Tombstone Express lift. According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch was called for medical assistance responding to the unconscious skier who had hit a tree at 1:47 p.m.
He was transported to the University of Utah Hospital by AirMed from the upper mountain, where responders were performing chest compressions and other life-saving measures. The fire department team was put on standby at the base area in the event that the AirMed helicopter could not fly, said Park City Fire Department Battalion Chief Max Dosher.
“Our entire Park City Mountain team extends our heartfelt sympathies to our guest’s family and friends,” said Deirdra Walsh, vice president and COO of Park City Mountain.
Hospital officials declined to speak on the skier’s condition Monday evening, and authorities declined to identify the man.
