An unidentified person broke the window of a Jeremy Ranch gas station and stole multiple packs of cigarettes on Feb. 18, according to a shift report from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
The man is shown in surveillance footage wearing a leather holster with a revolver around his waist, but he did not use the gun during the robbery.
Deputies were called to the scene, and the investigation is underway.
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to other calls between Monday, Feb. 17, and Sunday, Feb. 23, including unattended deaths, driving under the influence and a stolen vehicle.
Sunday, Feb. 23
A stolen pickup truck was found at a service station in Summit Park. The driver was still inside, and deputies placed him under arrest. He was transferred to the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office “for unrelated reasons.” The Summit County Attorney’s Office will handle the stolen vehicle case.
Deputies assisted medical personnel with an unresponsive woman in a residential area of the Snyderville Basin. She was later pronounced dead. A detective and evidence technician responded to the scene and generated an unattended death case, but they did not observe signs of criminal conduct or trauma indicating a violent incident or accident.
Deputies stopped a vehicle on Interstate-80 after observing multiple traffic violations. The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested. The vehicle was impounded.
Deputies stopped a vehicle with no insurance and a revoked registration on S.R. 224. After a records check, deputies learned the driver had a suspended license and required an ignition interlock device, which was not present in the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest.
A vehicle without insurance was stopped in the Kimball Junction area. When deputies contacted the driver, they observed signs of impairment. The driver performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was arrested.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle without insurance on S.R. 224 and discovered the driver had multiple active warrants for his arrest. The driver also had a revoked/expired driver’s license and was required to have an ignition interlock device. He was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail.
Deputies responded to an address near Kimball Junction after a reported domestic violence incident. The complainant said he attempted to leave the residence, but the suspect wouldn’t let him. The suspect allegedly corroborated the events and would not let the complainant leave until he called law enforcement. The suspect was arrested.
Saturday, Feb. 22
Deputies responded to a home in the Kimball Junction area after a man reported his mother had passed away. Medical personnel confirmed the death on scene, and the Office of the Medical Examiner declared the death was unattended. The case is under investigation.
Friday, Feb. 21
Deputies stopped a speeding vehicle near Hoytsville Road. During the traffic stop, deputies observed multiple open containers of alcohol “in plain view.” Both the female driver and her passenger were underage. The driver admitted to drinking, and deputies concluded it was not safe for her to operate a vehicle. She was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence.
Wednesday, Feb. 19
Deputies conducted a welfare check on someone who was parked at a gas station in Silver Creek. A K9 unit alerted deputies to “illegal contraband,” which was located in a subsequent search of the vehicle. During the booking process, deputies discovered more “illegal contraband” on the person.
Tuesday, Feb. 18
Summit County Search and Rescue responded to an assistance request from the South Summit Fire District regarding a stuck vehicle.
