Park City Mountain: Saturday at Park City Mountain, the resort will be holding their annual Pride parade. From noon to 12:30 p.m., skiers will shred the Homerun trail down to the Legacy Lounge. Once everyone arrives at the Legacy Lounge there will be further Pride festivities. Skiers are welcome to and often don Pride flags and other celebratory attire.
U.S. Ski Team: Saturday at the Calgary, Canada, World Cup, Parkite freeskier Nick Goepper finished second in the halfpipe event. Goepper posted a score of 92.25, 0.5 points off the winning score by Australia’s Finley Ives Melville. Goepper’s U.S. teammate Alex Ferreira finished in third, cementing his year-end Crystal Globe title for the highest finishing men’s freeski halfpipe skier. Goepper finished second in the globe standings, with the Calgary Cup concluding the halfpipe season.
Miners: The Miners wrestling squads wrapped up their seasons last week at the state tournament at Utah Valley University. The girls finished 18th in the state, and the boys, 24th. Seniors Abigail Pray and Noa Omessi each finished third in their divisions. Fellow senior Blake Ziesler won a match, scoring the only boys team point.
The Miners boys basketball season wrapped up Feb. 7 with a loss to Murray. Park City fell 91-50 at home, finishing their season 4-19. The Miners failed to qualify for the playoffs. It was head coach Vito Winkworth’s first season at the helm, after moving over from the girls program.
The Miners girls basketball season also ended Feb. 7 with a regular season loss to Murray. Park City fell 44-37, cementing their 4-17 season. The Miners also missed the playoffs in their first year under new head coach Jonny Bates.
