Summit County Search and Rescue responded to a snowmobiler suffering from a medical emergency in Wasatch County on Sunday.
Summit County Dispatch received the call around 11 a.m. The initial report said there was an adult individual suffering a medical emergency above Wolfcreek Pass in Wasatch County.
“Because our Search and Rescue resources can access the area much faster than Wasatch Search and Rescue, we deployed our own Search and Rescue resources,” explained Sgt. Skyler Talbot with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
A medical helicopter was dispatched and arrived on scene, but it was unable to land due to weather conditions.
The Search and Rescue team was then able to contact the patient, who was transported to Park City Hospital by ambulance. However, the patient was declared deceased while en-route to the hospital, according to a shift report from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
Wasatch County has been contacted to take over the death investigation.
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple other calls between Monday, Jan. 27, and Sunday, Feb. 3, including possession of drug paraphernalia, burglary and domestic violence.
Sunday, Feb. 2
Deputies responded to an address near Canyons Village after someone reported his keys had been taken out of his vehicle. There was no information on a suspect.
In another vehicle burglary case, deputies responded to an address near Silver Summit after receiving a report that someone had broken into a vehicle. Nothing was stolen and there was no suspect information.
Deputies listed a vehicle as stolen on the National Crime Information Center database after it was reported stolen. The vehicle had an AirTag inside, which when pinged showed as being in the West Jordan area. The Summit County Sheriff’s Office then contacted the West Jordan Police Department and other agencies in Salt Lake County. The Salt Lake agencies found the vehicle and engaged it in a pursuit. The vehicle was recovered, but the suspects fled on foot.
Friday, Jan. 31
Deputies stopped a vehicle after observing multiple traffic violations on eastbound S.R. 40. A K9 indicated the presence of narcotics during the investigation, and deputies searched the vehicle. They found drugs and paraphernalia on the passenger. The individual was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail.
A vehicle on S.R. 224 had multiple warrants attached to it, so deputies initiated a traffic stop. The driver was confirmed as the individual with the active warrants and was arrested.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Coalville for a moving violation. They initiated a search of the vehicle after a K9 was deployed, finding drug paraphernalia and open alcohol containers inside. The driver performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest.
Thursday, Jan. 30
Deputies responded to an attempt-to-locate call for a wrong-way driver near Silver Summit. They located the driver, and the driver performed poorly on field sobriety tests. She was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail.
Wednesday, Jan. 29
Deputies responded to a vehicle burglary in Silver Summit. The burglary occurred on Jan. 24, and the complainant said she had left her work computer in the unlocked vehicle as she went inside a nearby business. She later discovered the computer was missing. Deputies located the serial number and listed the computer as stolen on the National Crime Information Center database.
A woman told the Sheriff’s Office her jacket and sunglasses were stolen from the locker room at the Basin Recreation Fieldhouse. She provided a description of the stolen items and is working with Basin Recreation to obtain video footage. Deputies do not have any suspect information, and the case is closed pending further information.
Tuesday, Jan. 28
Deputies responded to a restaurant in Pinebrook after receiving reports of an intoxicated man harassing other customers. Restaurant staff told deputies the man left with another person in a white Jeep. Deputies located and stopped the vehicle. The man was exhibiting “erratic behavior” and was arrested, according to a shift report from the Sheriff’s Office. The driver of the vehicle also performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving under the influence as well as having an open container in a vehicle.
Monday, Jan. 27
Deputies responded to a delayed domestic violence incident reported in Kimball Junction. The complainant said her ex-boyfriend entered her apartment and choked her. Deputies contacted the ex-boyfriend, and he said he had tried to grab a necklace the complainant was wearing and that he never touched the complainant. The case is still under investigation as deputies wait for video footage from the apartment complex. The ex-boyfriend was told to stay away from the complainant until the investigation is finished.
